The government have announced an extension of VAT relief on energy saving materials (ESMs), however it seems unlikely that the revised scheme will be extended to certain products historically outside the scope of ESM, such as such as secondary glazing and more specialised kinds of insulation like insulating lime render.
Secondary glazing in particular is one of the most accessible forms of thermal efficiency improvements available to listed property owners, and the Club believe secondary glazing should be classed as an ESM and be given the zero rated VAT.
We have already contacted the treasury about this and in the meantime we ask that you contact your MP and ask them to support this, particularly if you plan to install secondary glazing in the future.
