The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy have responded to the Club’s concerns over their Green Home Grants scheme. As we have reported over the past few months, the scheme leaves out most listed building owners and so results in the most energy inefficient buildings receiving the least support.
BEIS’ response is not at all satisfactory to say the least. Their insistence on the use of TrustMark is perhaps predictable, given the context of the scheme, but equally they have completely refused to acknowledge the issues that we raised.
This answer is especially upsetting as the Green Home Grants scheme has been extended, meaning that listed property owners will continue to lose out if no amendments are made. The Club will be responding strongly to BEIS, and asking our parliamentary supporters to raise the matter directly with the minister.
