The Listed Property Show in Malvern
For the first time, the Club is bringing their renowned show to Malvern in October.
We have brought together the most comprehensive collection of regional and national specialist conservation suppliers and experts all under one roof. Whether you would like advice on damp, energy efficiency, planning, law, house history, or simply need a conservation architect or contractor for a restoration project, they’ll all be there, including a team of conservation officers for free one to one consultations plus a packed programme of informative talks over the two days.

MEET THE LPOC EXPERTS
Meet with The Listed Property Owners’ Club experts and gather information about buying or owning a listed property, listed building consent, unauthorised works by previous owners, surveyance, planning, grants, maintenance, mortgages and law. The Club can also provide specific advice and expertise available for owners or managers of flats/apartments within a listed building, including management companies, and commercial listed buildings.
CONSERVATION OFFICERS
Dr Joff Duck, LPOC’s Conservation Advisor, will lead a team of of independent conservation officers who will be available for free one-to-one conversations. They will help you better understand the obligations and requirements of owning a listed property and discuss any plans or hypothetical plans you may have for altering or extending your home. Remember to bring plenty of photographs and sketches of your property with you.
Alongside these officers will be a wide range of very experienced and competent RIBA registered architects all with the expertise and experience to develop your plans to fruition.
EXHIBITORS & DEMONSTRATIONS
Leading regional and national experts will be at the show to give advice and guidance. Many will be giving practical demonstrations including plaster and lead work, window restoration, lime mortar, master carvers, brickwork and paint. Other exhibitors includes Historic England, architectural historians as well as many commercial suppliers of products particularly suitable for period homes.

09:30 – 10:30 Ask the Energy Efficiency Experts:
A panel of leading experts to answer your questions on how to retrofit your listed home; from insulating options to replacement heating systems. The panel includes experts from Historic England and LPOC as well as suppliers and experts from across the retrofit industry.
10:30 – 11:15 Why Lime Works
Examples of typical applications, and problems associated with incorrect specification.
11:15 – 12.00 Control of Dampness
Dampness is the biggest cause of deterioration in old buildings. How to accurately diagnose it and the range of methods suitable for its control.
12:00 – 13:00 Ask the Experts
The panel will be led by LPOC’s Conservation Advisor Dr Jonathan Duck and he will be joined by a Historic England representative, a Conservation Architect, Property Lawyer Suzanne Bowman and Historic Building Consultant Douglas Kent. Come armed with your questions, issues and
concerns and join in the debate.
13:00 – 13:45 An Owner’s Guide to Obtaining Listed Building Consent
Learn what it means for you if your property is listed and you want to undertake refurbishment or building works, and what you will need to do to successfully obtain Listed Building Consent and/or Planning Permission.
13:45 – 14:30 Installing Solar Panels at your Listed Property
Experts share their experience of installing solar panels on listed buildings. Learn about the planning issues, the likelihood of gaining consent and the technical challenges.
14:30 – 15:15 Building Performance: Keeping Your Home Warm, Dry and Healthy
Traditional homes incorporated clever tricks to make them comfortable without gas and electricity. Discover how to reintroduce traditional features for improved comfort and how modern services can be integrated without risk.
15:15 – 16:00 Insulating Solid Floors – Problems and Opportunities
If you are unsure about whether it is practical, viable or economical to insulate solid floors this talk is for you. It covers the various options including limecrete and the practical considerations to take into account.
16:00 – 16:45 House History
Tracing the history of your historic home, focusing on what value this adds to your property as well as how you can use architectural clues and original records in archives and libraries to bring the story of your house to life.

11:15 – 12.00 Heating and Renewable Energy Options
The advantages and pitfalls of each approach of air, ground, and water source heat pumps, biomass boilers, HVO boilers and direct electric heating. Discuss the feasibility of installing these systems in your home.
12:00 – 12:45 Structural Problems and Solutions in Old Houses
This talk will focus on structural problems in domestic properties. This will range from movement issues and cracks, to the effects of water ingress and timber decay.
12:45 – 13:30 Guide to Extending a Listed Building
Exploring how new work can be executed in historic contexts by integrating alterations or additions sensitively through creative and thoughtful design.
13:30 – 14:30 Ask the Experts
The panel will be led by LPOC’s Conservation Advisor Peter Bell and he will be joined by a Historic England representative, a Conservation Architect, Property Lawyer Suzanne Bowman and a Historic Building Consultant. Come armed with your questions, issues and concerns and join in the debate.

Options and the potential benefits and pitfalls and the kind of return on investment listed property owners can typically expect from secondary glazing.

An introduction to the use of lime in renovation. The chemistry involved, examples of typical applications and problems associated with incorrect specification.
